INTRODUCTION TO 2+2 PROJECT CONCEPTS: Above are several of my awkward attempts to illustrate a few of many customizing concepts I have long entertained for the much mal aligned and neglected 2+2 Z car model that Nissan produced from August 1973 to the end of the S30 body's life span in 1978. The illustrations do not come very close to showing the potential aesthetic modifications that I think could transform this "ugly duckling" into a near work of automotive art, but at least they are a start. Hopefully, my illustration, and possibly 3D software modeling skills, will noticeably improve in the future as I look for ways to develop the custom body designs and convertible conversion approaches I hope to eventually create from one or more 2+2 Z car bodies.

As of late January 2004, I have now acquired one very straight 2+2 S30 body to start measurements and body kit design experiments on, that of an early model 1974 260Z 2+2. produced in 7/74, that I have nicknamed "Mr. TOAD", for several semi obvious reasons. Unfortunately, Mr. Toad has been found to be in such well preserved stock condition, for a 30 year old classic Z car model, that my conscience is telling me that cutting this body up for a convertible project might be a travesty that I may not want to live with down the road. Hence, my plan now is to use Mr. Toad primarily as a drivable test body useful as a 2+2 model base to develop "one-off" body kit design experiments on for the time being while I search for several more marginal 2+2 bodies, better suited to structural reinforcement and top removal experiments related to the convertible conversion goals of this multi goal project. As I acquire more bodies (I have several good sources now for cheap bodies), each will probably have a photo section devoted to it within this Featured 2+2 Project section that you are now reading the introduction to.

Because I am assuming many Z Car enthusiasts, over time, may reference this project often on Z car discussion web sites and mailing lists and because my time to correspond directly with interested parties or other Z car project owners may be very limited, I will be trying to develop an ever expanding and detailed page of RELATED LINKS to convertible Z, and Z customizing or body kit modification projects and other related sources of information found on the internet, as I slowly progress on this project, which, by the way, I am in no hurry to complete. My philosophy related to this particular project is similar to that of Nissan's advertising slogan, "Life's a Trip, Enjoy the Ride", (or, as I like to often put it, "Life's a Modem, Enjoy the Connection".)

If visitors wish to contribute related photos, information, links, comments, suggestions or questions helpful to this project or for possible publication here, please send them to photos@zparts.com. Please be understanding that I can not answer many questions sent to me unless directly related to me advancing with this time consuming project, because time to do so will be frequently in conflict with running my ZPARTS business or "having a life', but in spirit, I will be looking forward to all questions and comments and will do my best to respond to most inquiries, time and energy allowing.

Hope you can enjoy whatever I manage to publish here as time goes by,

- SLEEK Z
