Z Car Performance Statistics Project (last update - June 27th)

Magazine Performance Test Statiscs from 1970 through 1996 . In the late 1990's I was contacted by a personal Z car website owner stating that life's demands would no longer afford him the time to complete an ambitious Z Car related documentaion project to assemble and publish an extensive compilation of performance test statistics gleaned from many years of major car magazine publications by the well known motorsport writer, Donn Vickrey. Seeing great potential in the raw project data compiled to that point in time, I gladly accepted a caretaker status for the material that no other Z car club or website would take on. I now have decided to dust off this interesting performance data, sent to me long ago, in the hopes of finally finishing this documentaion project and sharing it all online with Z car enthusiasts world wide.

Note: This documentaton project will definitely be a long term, "work-in-progress", effort with new pages being added for each year, model and custom Z that I have statistics for, as time permits and quality photos are sent in or taken by myself. Any additiional performance data on the new 350Z or custom, Hybrid Z cars that anyone can supply me, would be most welcome.

WANTED: Photos of Stock looking 1970 - 1996 Z Cars. Please review introduction and sample presentation format pages for this project and contact Eric if you feel that you can supply 1-2 quality photos of stock looking cars that will compliment the quality and goals of this Z car documentation project. - Eric Neyerlin - owner of ZPARTS.COM

Brett Limonoff's HybridZ V8 Project. Brett Limonoff, based in Sacramento California, has been working enthusiastically for the past 1 1/2 years on a hybridized V8 Z car project with a few unique custom twists. Chief amongst several functional exterior customizations is a 1969 Mercury Comet hood scoop mounted atop the stock Z car hood bulge to accomodate the tall V8 air cleaner.

June 9th Note: I owe Brett Limonoff the biggest of appolgies for badly falling behind in publsihing my photos of his cool looking Hybridz car that I took back in November 2003 and the detailed, well written write-up that he diligently worked to supply me shortly afterwards. To his credit, Brett' has accorded me the greatest patience during the periods since then that I have been unable to muster the energy and focus to complete his photo display. Between now and when I finally get the whole display prepared to my satisfaction, Z car and HybridZ enthusiasts can review the special "Bird's Eye View" page of his car and a bare bones online photo slide show by clicking on links below.

Sleek Z Design Concepts of Eric Neyerlin. Since I consider my main Z related projects these days to be more design oriented than actual construction, I've decided to include reference to their ongoing evolution in my Featured Projects section.

Currently there are illustrations and notes related to a 2+2 convertible and a dual engine concept, a street racer overview and a flared G-nose concept up for viewing. The 2+2 section is the most current and active section as of October 2004, there now being two actual 2+2 project cars being prepped for either a quasi "restoration" or a radical body and interior redesign experiment.

If interested in any of the design concepts displayed, I encourage you to click on the links to HybridZ.org forum discussions below several of the illustrations to get better insight into what other Z car customizers think about related subjects. Very intersting discussions there to read with some very knowledgable Z enthusiasts participating. --Eric Neyerlin - owner of ZPARTS.COM

Nissan Q45 V8 Test Fit in a 240Z Due to many requests from forum members at Hybridz.org and Z car enthusiasts around the world, I have at last found a set of photos sent into me last year of an interesting project showing a test fitting of a VH45 V8 engine from a Nissan Q45 luxury car into a 240Z or Fairlady Z.. Not much else is known about this project other than it is rumored to be based in Japan.

April 12, 2004 BIG News! Owner of this "one of a kind" engine swap project just sent me first preview photos of finished car. Stay tuned to review more details of a very unique engine swap into a Z car. One preview is up today to look at. More to follow soon.

Paul Henley's '73 240Z ground-up restoration project in England featuring custom rotisserie stand photo documentation, wooden dolly transport and body prep photos and comments.

Paul's 240Z restoration project car, purchased in 1998, after being stored in a garage for 18 years, has progressed steadily through tear down and stripping to bare metal stages. In the spring of 2002 car was taken to body shop for final body prep and painting. Hopefully, photos of painting and final results will appear here later on.

Big high light of this project display is the photo documentation of Paul's car rotisserie stands. Be sure to check it out. Publishing of this project is a "work in progress" and will be added to as more photos and write up ae sent in.

Dan Juday's 240Z HybridZ project featuring, TPI Chevy V8 swap, unusual body flares, unique rear deck fabrication, gas tank conversion and dual exhaust system.

Based out of Rio Vista, CA, USA, Dan has taken many unorthodox routes along the way to creating his own unique Hybrd Z car. Balancing the needs of his supportive family, priorities of life, demands of his job and limitations of time and bank account, Dan has searched for ways to customize his Z car in a way that is both refreshing and unique while still maintaining "a life"

Started in mid 2001, photo documentation of Dan's project has been divided into 2 photo displays so far. A third is almost ready for publication. Now ready for paint, Dan's car is scheduled to enter body shop finishing and paint stages starting September 2002. Final photos will be published soon after.
